this has the motherfucking heat. the tone starts so fluidly and detached because ann patchett will tell the story at her own pace. i’m sat. the prose hits its mark On Demand. the characters and dynamics are wonderful. the story is generically anti-government and pro-revolution even though nothing ever happens. nothing ever happens except life, and ultimately, death. a tragedy, a comedy, a slice of life, a triumph.
