like others who went in blind, i was bemused at the several genre shifts before I ultimately settled in. I was pulled in by the writing style, rolled my eyes at some parts, and ultimately stayed for the characters. The mystery itself was fine, had some reasonable twists; i liked that it wasn’t really important and that the main cast of characters is what drove the novel. sometimes they did things that made me so furious but it was always in line with who they were.
